PAST EVENTS
E-type Club Day at Shelsley WalshThe E-type Club day was held for another year running in late June at the World's oldest speed hillclimb, Shelsley Walsh. The event attracted national and international members. Luckily the weather couldn’t have been any better, the sun was out and people were able to relax and catch-up with one another.
The event was once again attended by Jaguar specialists including SNG Barratt, MWS, JD Classics, Longstone Classic Tyres, Mech-mate Motor Pits, ClassicLine Insurance, Coopercraft Cars and many more. There was plenty to enjoy throughout the day. E-type members were entertained by a superb local Jazz band the ‘James Hunt Quartet’ and of course the main feature of the day - the magnificent display of e-types which took over the grounds and were without doubt a sight to behold!

Later on in the afternoon our members enjoyed the sights of Worcestershire, Herefordshire and the Shropshire countryside as they partook in the Sunday run. The trip ended back at Club HQ just on the outskirts of Tenbury Wells, Worcestershire. Tea and Cakes were served on the lawn and it gave everyone a chance to have a catch-up once again before departing.
Above: part of the impressive display at Shelsley Walsh, a fabulous pair of Eagle E-types Series 1, 4.2's – both absolutely stunning in silver blue!
October 9
The Old Tollgate Lunch, Bramber, West Sussex
The sumptuous 3-course Sunday lunch was held at The Old Tollgate in Bramber, a super venue for the final meet of the year. The lunch was kindly organised by our Southern Representative, Peter Spackman, and saw a spectacular array of E-types in attendence. After lunch, hotel owner and Le Mans E-type racer Peter Sargent entertained members with tales of his motor racing experiences during the 1960s and a marvellous afternoon was had by all.
August 20
Pebble Beach, USA
Club founders Philip & Julie Porter headed off to America this August to attend the huge classic car auctions, concours and races at Pebble Beach, along with USA Co-ordinators Randy & Debbie Aagaard (best known for their fabulous work on the Red Rock Rallye).
The XK Club also hosted an informal Meet ‘n Greet at the Marriott Hotel in Monterey, which provided a wonderful opportunity to meet some of the USA members. Also in attendance were E-type Club patron, Norman Dewis, and legendary motor racer Sir Stirling Moss, patron of our XK Club.
6 - 7 August
E-type Club Weekend
The Jaguar E-type Club opened its doors to all E-type owners and enthusiasts at our countryside headquarters in August for our second ever E-type Club Weekend. Also attended by Jaguar specialists including JD Classics, Eagle E-type, VSE, Classic Motor Cars, RM & J Smith and many, many more, there was plenty to enjoy throughout the weekend!
Club Day didn’t finish at sunset – instead things got a lot more interesting! In the evening, our marquee was transported back to the sixties, Tardis style, for an absolutely fabulous Oscars Party. Local master-chefs Davenport House provided a fantastic, elegant buffet great music (with a sixties groove) came courtesy of Cool Britannia. We also had some rather special prizes to award before the party got into full swing with some serious black-tie boogying!
On Sunday, we blew the cobwebs away and got back to the real emphasis of the weekend – driving and enjoying E-types on our Sunday run. The trip took us through the stunning countryside of Worcestershire, Shropshire and the Welsh Marches before we headed to a rather special Estate home in historic Ludlow for lunch.
Those of us who still weren’t E-typed out joined our Club Founders, Philip and Julie Porter, for the Survivors’ Supper at The Clive to wind down the weekend in style.
