XK60 Weekend at Goodwood & Cowdray Park

The feature-packed programme currently includes track action, displays, parades and demonstration laps, live music, specialist Jaguar exhibitors, lifestyle exhibitors, XK and XK-engined competitions, celebrity guests, rare cars, a fantastic auction of cars and automobilia by Bonhams and much more still to be announced. 

2008 is the 60th anniversary of the launch of Jaguar’s ground-breaking XK engine (which, of course, powers all but the V12 E-types). To mark this momentous event, a full programme of activities is being planned across two fabulous locations – historic Goodwood Circuit and beautiful Cowdray Park.

July 11-13: Le Mans Classic 2008

Le Mans Classic 2008 promises to be a superb event and we hope to be there in strength. Our travel specialists, Fiona Bayne & Paul Abadjian, have put together a wonderful package for the event. Fiona writes:

 

‘Your accommodation will be in a seventeenth-century Chateau about 22 miles outside Le Mans. The Chateau is owned and run by a Vicomte and Vicomtesse and is surrounded by exquisite grounds complete with roaming peacocks, swans and horses.

The event is being aimed at all XK-engined cars (not just classic XKs) – hence E-types (including V12s), Mark 2 Saloons, XJ6s, etc, are strongly encouraged to attend – as well as modern Jaguars. In fact, next year’s E-type Club Weekend will take place at this event (with a special area for Club members to congregate – plus special E-type competitions, etc). 

 

XK60 prices are as follows.

·  XK60 Friday at Goodwood (8 August 2008): £30.00 per car

·  XK60 Saturday at Goodwood (9 August 2008): £40.00 per car

·  XK60 Sunday at Cowdray Park (10 August 2008): £20.00 per car

The Chateau’s 8 rooms are all luxurious, very stylish, and en-suite. Many have four poster beds and are furnished throughout with antiques.

 

‘Dinner is cooked by the Vicomtesse herself, who is a gourmet chef. It is served in their wonderful dining room, surrounded by the silver that has belonged to 14 generations of this family. We have stayed in this Chateau and found it outstanding. Your cars are safely parked in the grounds of the chateau and it is a good base to explore the surrounding area.’

 

The package includes four nights at the Chateau, with breakfast on each day, and 2 dinners with wine. Weekend tickets for Le Mans  Classic 2008, including Paddock and Grandstand passes and VIP parking.

A day dedicated to enjoying the scenic roads, beautiful countryside and architecture of the Welsh Borders and Mid-Wales.

Starting at the Clive restaurant near Ludlow the Radnor Run will travel through the stunning Border’s countryside to the Radnorshire Arms in Presteigne, where coffee and Welsh cakes will be served. The route then continues to Abbey-Cwm-Hir, an incredible Victorian Gothic Hall, full of history and romance, set in 12 acres of beautiful grounds. Here participants will enjoy a buffet lunch, a guided tour of the house and full access to its stunning gardens. The route back to the A49 and home is another delightful example of fine driving, clear roads and fantastic scenery.

Events In Jersey, UK

E-type Club Representative, Neil Dangerfield is organising the following activities for Jaguar owners on the Island of Jersey.

Saturday 7 June: Jaguar Display at the JOMC Festival of Motoring (people's Park from 11.30am). Neil writes, "It would be nice to take part and raise the profile of the E-type within this island.  What I am suggesting is that we meet earlier at a place/time to be agreed and then arrive at the park in convoy which will make a much greater impression than arriving individually.  There will be a "fun skilled driving course" and a Best Car & Period Costume class.  The JOMC has received a terrific turnout of cars from the mainland of all different marques and models from the early 1900's to later 1990's".

Sunday 22 June: Join other E-type and Jaguar owners for a scenic run to France.

June 14 - 15: E-type Forum Meet'n'Greet Weekend, Belgium
