In honour of the birthday celebrations of the E-types built 1968-1969, the 2007 Epitome of an E-type Award went to this wonderful 2+2, Opalescent Silver, Series 1½ owned by Malcolm Lawrence.

E-type Club Day

There were huge sighs of relief, when after almost 24 hours of rain, the skies cleared for the third E-type Club day.

Over 50 E-types made the journey to Club Headquarters in the heart of Worcestershire for the annual celebration of all things E.  Club members, enthusiasts and specialists mingled at the event, which is fast becoming a staple of every owner’s calendar.

The assembled cars quickly created an eye-catching display, as they twinkled in the sun amongst the Damson trees in orchard.

“[Club Day] is a great chance to meet fellow members and to share their successes and problems. It’s a very supportive Club ... It’s nice to see suppliers in an informal setting and to be able to ask them questions” John Morris

There was also an impressive line-up in front of the atmospheric Dutch Barn (including the prototype E-type 9600 HP).

“The setting and views [at Hilltop Farm] are surreal.  There is a great atmosphere as time periods [Hilltop’s Tudor History, E-type’s 60s & the present day] blend together effortlessly” Richard Cook

Brian Windle with his very early Series 1, which was one of the very first batch of RHD cars to leave the factory on 14 July (it’s the 36th recorded chassis). The car was delivered to S.H. Newsome of Coventry and used as their demonstration model.
“I bought my car in 2002. I’d always wanted an E-type – I fell in love with this one when I first saw it” Kent Nicholls on his Carmen Red, Automatic 4.2 RHD Series 1½, 2+2. (All original).

Since being bought by Mr Windle in 1983 it has covered over 23,000 miles and participated in tours of the USA, Ireland, Austria and South Africa (to name but a few).

The E-type Club would like to say a big thank you to all of our Club Day Sponsors
Among the attending E-types were 5 series 1½s – which this year are celebrating their, highly unofficial, 40th Birthday.

“I’ve owned my Series 1½ for about 13 years. It’s a December 1967 version, UK model and is very similar to the Series 1 (curly hubs, toggle switches, etc.). John Killip
Richard & Shelley Cook haled from slightly nearer to home, they had travelled just 6 miles from nearby Hopton Wafers in their V12 E-type, which they have owned for 12 years.

E-type owners from all over the country travelled to be part of E-type Club Day.

Johnny & Jane Gibs made the 250 mile trip from Devon with their small daughter (a journey that won them the Farthest Distance Travelled to E-type Club Day award). They also picked up the Greatest Annual Mileage in an E-type award.
