E-type Club on Top Gear

The E-type Club was described by TV presenter, pianist and band leader, Jools Holland as, “a fantastic Club” during an appearance on BBC’s popular Top Gear show (aired Sunday, 14 October 2007).

Jools, has been a member of the E-type Club for almost three years and is one of our staunchest supports.  He went on to perform well in the “Star in the Reasonably-Priced Car” section of the show.

We hope all of you Club Members out there will follow Jools’ example – we don’t expect you to recommend the Club to an entire nation, but do continue to tell your friends and other E-type owners about us.

New Year, New Look X-type

The Jaguar X-type will be ringing in the new year with a new fresh look! It will also boast a host of new features inside and outside the vehicle and, for the first time in the model range, a new automatic transmission in the acclaimed 2.2 litre diesel.

Driving the changes is Jaguar’s desire to target a younger, more family-orientated audience.  Hence the refreshed X-type automatic diesel combines Jaguar’s consistently high levels of refined design with optimised performance and economy.

The new X-TYPE goes on sale in the UK in March 2008 and in other European markets in April 2008.

A new venture from advertiser Quicksilver Automotive Technology

(UK 0844 800 4338 or www.quicksilveronline.co.uk  is a range of carefully formulated interior lighting, claimed to resemble sunlight and be developed along the lines of therapeutic treatment lights. E-types at XK60

At XK60, there will be a dedicated area in the XK Village for E-types and I'm delighted to say the bookings are coming in very nicely – should be a brilliant turnout. Please remember that, although E-type Club Day is on the Saturday, members are extremely welcome on the Friday as well – there'll be far too much to do in one day and plenty of action on the track both days. Indeed, Lord Cowdray has just confirmed that his two very famous Low Drag E-types – CUT 7 and the Lightweight 49 FXN – will be at Goodwood.

Jaguar XKR-S Makes Geneva Debut

Jaguar E-type Tops Poll of 100 Most Beautiful Cars of All Time

Readers of the Daily Telegraph (UK) have voted the Jaguar E-type the most beautiful car of all time.  The E-type received almost four times as many votes as any other car putting it in top position ahead of the Citroen DS at number two and the Classic Jaguar XK 120/140/150 (Ed - yes, all these XKs were all lumped together!) which achieved a creditable third position.

Less of the Old Heave Ho!

Thanks to the pioneering upgrade from J.D Classics, the owners of classic cars fitted with rack and pinion steering, such as E-types, can now enjoy the benefits of modern power steering while retaining the original look of their car.

The power steering upgrade, which has taken 14 months to develop and test, integrates a modern electric steering pump with a car's existing steering rack.  The system allows drivers to vary the power-steering assistance to suit their needs or to select the original ride feel for authenticity, simply by turning a small rotating dial on an electric control unit, which is mounted conveniently and discreetly under the dashboard.
