Tax Exemption for 1973 Es!

A significant proportion of UK V12 E-type owners will be celebrating this year’s Budget, as (in the very small print, with no publicity) the Government responded to pressure from enthusiasts and the FBHVC to modify the cut-off date for Historic Vehicle road tax exemption: now, all cars manufactured before 1 January 1974 are exempt.

If your E-type was registered in early 1974, check your Heritage Certificate. If you don’t have one, get one from the Jaguar Heritage Trust: Jaguar Heritage Archive, Heritage Motor Centre, Banbury Road, Gaydon, Warwickshire CV35 0BJ or via www., the cost is £42. If the Heritage Certificate shows that the car was built in 1973, DVLA will accept this as valid proof of tax exempt status. Owners of the final, 1974-built, Es will be hoping the date moves another year in next year’s Budget…
